Facebook status, skype mood, twitter tweets, your blog posts, pownce, Jaiku, Xing and lifeblogging… everyone wants to know what you are doing now! Don’t you wish you had a PA or something who could tell them all what you are doing?

That is what I wanted so I dug a little and found a few cool things:

Twitter: twitter is cool because you can read from it with other programs and write to it from lots of places. It is easy to set up and you can access it from your browser, from WAP (m.twitter.com) or sms.
If you install Adobe AIR you can use a cute little application called Twirl that lets you update it from your desktop. (how can you resist that name?)
You can update if from Outlook using OutTwit (which also serves some other functions… see further down)
There are actually lots more ways to be found on the twitter downloads page.
And my new favorite: open up your Skype, and then add a contact called “twitter4skype”. Send him the following message:
/account (shift enter)
Skypeusername (shift enter)
Skypepassword (shift enter)

It will tell you that you are registered and then any messages you send to twitter4skype will automatically be entered into your twitter as a tweet.

Now the problem with twitter is that no one reads your tweets, right? So you want to get twitter to update your other microblogs.

First Facebook. This one is easy. Install the twitter application. Personally I havn’t typed a status in facebook in months… twitter takes care of that for me.

Then Skype. There is a cute little application called Twype that you run on you pc that reads your twitter tweets ever 5 seconds and updates you skype mood as it changes.

So… you can update your skype mood from skype to twitter4skype into twitter and then through twype back into skype. Eh.

The other cool thing you can do with twitter is read rss feeds… so I set up my friend’s status updates from facebooks to feed into my twitter account (you want to set up a second account for this and then follow it withyour primary account). There is a service called twitterfeed that you sign up for and it updates your second tweets to reflect your friends’ status changes.

Once I am following that with my primary twitter account I then use Outwit to dump all those updates in a folder in Outlook. So everytime I check my mail I can check what all my friends are up to. Since twitterfeed is free it only allows you do read the 5 newest posts every half hour but it is still cool.

Oh… I also update the footer of my blog to reflect my status using twitter. You can get a guidline on how that is done at the twitter site.
